Balance receives R&D award

Columbus, OH – Sept 3, 2004 – Mettler Toledo’s XS balance has received recognition from a team of scientists and engineers as one of the most technologically significant products of the year.

“We knew that end users were looking for a balance to provide secure compliance in a regulated environment, [and] winning this award validates our innovative approach to providing customer solutions,” says Ian Ciesniewski the company’s North American technical director.

The judging process for the R&D 100 Awards is designed to pick the 100 most technologically significant new products from among many creditable entries.

The balance’s technological advantages include fast speed with a new slotted weigh pan. This technology removes buoyancy effects caused by temperature differences that lead to air currents. The air easily flows through the weigh pan without lifting the pan, with the result of rapid stability in weighing.
