Columbus, OH – Mettler Toledo has announced the Food Science Analysis Education Grant – a grant program that be awarded at the 2005 annual meeting of the Institute of Food Technologists in July.
The grant will consist of analytical equipment and accessories, software, and a PC, to establish or enhance the education in current and future collegiate food science programs. Educational institutions in the United States and Canada that confer degrees up to the PhD level and provide or intend to provide education in food science are invited to apply for the prestigious grant.
In honour of Dr Erhard Mettler, founder of the corporation today known as Mettler Toledo, one grant will be awarded each calendar year to actively support education in the industry. Throughout his life, Dr Mettler’s contributions have assisted in establishing the company as a global solutions leader in every aspect of food management.
The grant package, estimated to be worth in excess of US$60,000, will be determined according to the needs of the organization applying for the grant. Installation and service of the system is included and two project participants from the organization will be entitled to attend one training course conducted by the company, free of charge.
An independent committee consisting of distinguished members of the food science community will judge the applications and award the grant to the most deserving submitter.
