MIV Therapeutics appoints special scientific advisor


Vancouver, BC November 4, 2003 MIV Therapeutics has appointed Dr Arun Chockalingam, BE, MS, PhD, FACC, FACEP, as its special advisor on scientific & international affairs.

Dr Chockalingam is a clinical professor of health care and epidemiology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. He holds degrees in electronics engineering, biomedical engineering and medicine. An accomplished author, educator, lecturer and internationally recognized cardiovascular expert, Dr Chockalingam received the Dr Harold N Segall award of merit by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society for outstanding contribution to the progress of cardiovascular disease prevention in Canada. In recognition of his global contribution to cardiovascular health, the American College of Cardiology presented him with an honorary fellowship, (FACC) in March 2000.

Dr Chockalingam has over 20 years of academia and governmental (senior policy adviser at Health Canada) experience and continues as a consultant to the World Health Organization, the Pan American Health Organization, the World Heart Federation, and a number of national cardiovascular organizations in many countries. He has authored or co-authored over 100 scientific/medical publications, and has chaired and/or organized a number of national and international conferences.
