Universit de Sherbrooke awarded new research chairs

Sherbrooke, QC – February 19, 2004 – Denis Paradis, minister of state (financial institutions), on behalf of Lucienne Robillard, minister of industry and minister responsible for the economic development agency of Canada for Quebec, today congratulated the Universit de Sherbrooke which received $8.9 million to support seven new Canada Research Chairs.

Of this, $8 million comes from the Canada Research Chairs Program and $943,308 is for infrastructure funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation. Including today’s announcement, the Universit de Sherbrooke now has 20 Canada Research Chairholders worth $27 million in federal funding.
