$25M funding support for vaccine research centre

Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatchewan government is providing funding of $24.7 million to the University of Saskatchewans International Vaccine Centre (InterVac).

$5.6 million will be available immediately, and the remaining funds will be paid over the next three or four years. The funding comes from the Saskatchewan Governments Innovation and Science Fund, and matches grants provided through the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI).

“This investment from the Province of Saskatchewan is critical to ensuring InterVac will dramatically strengthen Canadas leadership in infectious disease research, biosecurity and research innovation,” says Peter MacKinnon, University of Saskatchewan president. “This multi-institutional collaboration supports our countrys growing network of agencies devoted to the health and safety of Canadians.”
