Agriculture and agri-food projects receive $370,000 funding

Saskatoon, SK – Three research projects related to the agricultural sector in Saskatchewan have received federal funding support. The projects are:

– $149,188 to the University of Saskatchewan to test a by-product of ethanol production for use as a high-grade livestock feed;

– $159,455 to the Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre for an online Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point & Food Safety Diploma Program; and

– $63,000 to FarmPure Global to develop a new oat variety for the dairy and feedlot industry.

Funding for these projects is being made through the Saskatchewan Council for Community Development (SCCD).

“This funding will benefit producers by giving them more choice and will benefit processors by allowing them to produce a safe, value-added product,” says Garth Patterson, SCCD chair.
