Two-year project to research food products for aging boomers

Winnipeg, MB – New provincial funding of $80,000 to the Food Development Centre in Portage la Prairie and the University of Manitoba will support a two-year research project into the design and development of food products for baby boomers and older consumers.

The project will use focus groups to review and identify products that are commonly consumed by consumers in the 50-plus age range. Food prototypes will then be developed, containing the necessary nutrients for the baby-boom generation which are pleasing to the senses and easy to prepare. With the assistance of the Manitoba Food Processors Association (MFPA), the new products will be provided to Manitoba-based food companies for commercial production.
