Vineland, ON – Vineland Research and Innovation Centre says it has signed collaboration agreements with Brock University and Niagara College, allowing the institutions to work together on horticulture and agriculture research.
“It is no longer feasible for research to focus solely on efficient horticulture and agriculture production systems; instead science is being asked to address larger issues like improved public health, cleaner environments and healthier economies,” said Dr Jim Brandle, CEO of Vineland Research and Innovation Centre. “New partnerships such as Vineland’s recent agreements with Brock University and Niagara College create synergies, innovations and opportunities that will make our horticulture industry competitive in the world.”
He added that the parties expect to enter into more formalized agreements with study/project units regarding collaborative applied research; shared funding opportunities, human resources and facilities; knowledge mobilization and transfer to producers, government and private sector and academic audiences; new company formation or spin-off company incubation, and multi-lateral research and development and commercialization opportunities.
