Ottawa, ON – The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) has awarded nearly $28 million to support research projects across Canada.
“The CFI is proud to support the innovative researchers of this nation to tackle today’s pressing research challenges,” said Dr Phillipson, the CFI’s president and CEO. “By investing in their work, we are ensuring that Canada remains competitive in the global knowledge economy.”
The funding program supports Canada’s quickly evolving research environment by giving Canadian universities the flexibility they need to attract and retain the world’s finest researchers at a time of intense international competition.
The CFI’s Board of Directors approved a total investment of $27,871,219 following a rigorous merit-review process. This amount included $21,439,399 awarded under the Leaders Opportunity Fund and another $6,431,820 awarded under the Infrastructure Operating Fund, a complementary program designed to contribute to the incremental operating and maintenance costs of infrastructure projects funded by the CFI.
