Affiliation agreement to enhance research commercialization in Alberta

Vancouver, BC and Edmonton, AB – The Centre for Drug Research and Development (CDRD) and TEC Edmonton have signed an affiliation agreement allowing University of Alberta researchers with promising health discoveries to access CDRD’s expertise and infrastructure.

CDRD is a not-for-profit public/private organization headquartered in Vancouver that is recognized by the federal government as a Centre of Excellence for Commercialization and Research (CECR). As such, it provides drug development expertise and infrastructure to researchers from more than 20 leading academic and health research institutions from across Canada to advance commercially promising, early-stage drug candidates.

TEC Edmonton is a not-for-profit joint venture between the University of Alberta and the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation. The group is Edmonton’s business incubator and accelerator for fledgling high-tech companies of all stripes, including bio-health. On campus, TEC Edmonton helps researchers turn their scientific solutions into business opportunities. It also serves as the exclusive technology transfer agent for the University of Alberta.
