PITTCON 2012 opens on Sunday

Orlando, FL – Final preparations are underway for the annual Pittcon Conference & Exposition, which opens on Sunday in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center. Running from March 11 to 15, the event is said to be the world’s largest annual laboratory science conference and trade show. Nearly 1,000 companies will be exhibiting, and visitors from more than 90 countries are expected to attend.

“Pittcon is a most dynamic venue for scientists and researchers to come together in one place to see the newest equipment and learn the latest analytical and measurement techniques in areas such as food and product safety; environmental hazards; homeland security; medical; and drug research and development – all of which impact our everyday lives,” says Jon Pearce, president of Pittcon 2012.

The show floor will include three specialized areas devoted to new exhibitors, life sciences, and laboratory informatics (LIMS). For the first time, there will be a Japanese pavilion consisting of seven companies. Returning for 2012 is ICP Alley, comprised of four companies. Technology Park, located in the centre of the floor, will present an interactive robotics display to include a DaVinci Robot and a surgical simulator.

Posters will be displayed in two spots and will include 14 electronic posters. A total of 40 conferee networking sessions will provide networking opportunities for registered conferees to meet in a semi-formal gathering to discuss pre-identified topics. Finally, short courses offer training by industry experts.
