Centre for Drug Research and Development scientific director steps down

Vancouver, BC – The Centre for Drug Research and Development (CDRD) has announced that Dr. Michel Roberge has stepped down from his position as the organization’s scientific director in order to dedicate his full attention to his academic research at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Dr. Roberge will continue in his role as chair of CDRD’s Screening Division.

“Dr. Roberge has been not only our highly dedicated scientific director for these past three years, but one of CDRD’s most active and important champions since its inception,” says Dr. David Dolphin, chair of CDRD. “He was in fact one of the leaders behind the initial creation of CDRD, and since then, has played a critical role in virtually all our successes.”

While a nationwide search is underway for Dr. Roberge’s successor, CDRD says that Dr. T. Michael Underhill has been appointed as interim scientific director. A professor in UBC’s Department of Cellular & Physiological Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Underhill currently also serves as chair of CDRD’s Target Validation Division and is a member of the Executive Committee.
