New microwave instrument improves peptide synthesis

Researchers looking for faster and more efficient ways to synthesize peptides now have a new family of products at their disposal. CEM’s Liberty Blue line of research-scale microwave peptide synthesizers and its Liberty XL mid-scale microwave peptide synthesizer offer four minute cycle times and offer a 90 per cent reduction in solvent usage compared to existing methods. The line covers a wide scale range from 0.025 to 5 mmol, and up to 100 mmol with the mid-scale model. The systems work by using microwave energy for both the coupling deprotection steps of synthesis, ensuring higher purities and faster yields. CEM Corporation
