New analytical software for Raman spectroscopy automates particle location and chemical characterization, improving efficiency. The ParticleFinder module for Horiba Scientific’s LapSpec 6 spectroscopy suite leads the analyst through the process of locating particles, generating size/shape statistics, selecting candidate particles based on size/shape parameters and finally acquiring Raman spectra. It is suitable for locating and identifying any particulate matter where automated molecular analysis is key, including pharmaceutical materials, trace forensic evidence, geological rock/mineral particles and airborne contaminants trapped on filters.
