It’s important to use a nanopositioning stage that is suited to the application. Physik Instrumente has several versions of its new compact PI miCos LPS-45 linear translation stage, which positions samples along a precisely guided path with distances of up to one-inch. Devices are available for applications in air, vacuum and non-magnetic environments. It has a miniaturized, integrated ceramic piezo inertia drive with holding forces of 10 N and runs at a frequency beyond human hearing.
