Polymer stands up to repeated steam sterilization

Using a material that won’t break down after repeated exposure to heat can help reduce waste by promoting reuse. Goodfellow’s TPX polymethylpentene is a lightweight, transparent, semi-crystalline material with outstanding resistance to both steam sterilization and a wide range of chemicals. Items made with this polymer can be reused many times, promoting reuse rather than recycling. With a low density, the material also does not absorb water and transmits 92 to 94 per cent of visible light, has a low refractive index and non-stick properties. Suitable applications include food containers, sterilization cases, laboratory equipment, LED moulds, and UV sterilization equipment. Goodfellow Cambridge Ltd.
