Low leakages offer a significant benefit for pumps used for evacuating explosive gases. Pfeiffer Vacuum’s OktaLine ATEX of pumps are hermetically sealed pumps to have very low leakage rates of less than 7.5×10-9 Torr l/s. The magnetic coupling makes it possible to omit the shaft sealing rings, which are inherent weak points when pressure surges occur and require frequent maintenance. With pumping speeds from 280 m3/h to 5,190 m3/hr, they are resistant to pressure surges up to 1,600 kPa, and depending upon the application, users can choose between equipment category 2 and 3.
