Combining real-time micro-scale solvent extraction in fast moving droplets with electrospray ionization (ESI) to achieve high throughput sample introduction for mass spectrometry, a DESI ion source can increase the speed of analytical experimentation when coupled to a mass spectrometer. This source gives you the flexibility you need to analyze a variety of sample types, including tissue samples, TLC plates, thin films, tablets amongst others. It allows researchers to achieve drug imaging in animal tissue sections without matrix application to the surface.
