$30.4M in CFI funding supports research infrastructure

Hamilton, ON – The Canada Foundation for Innovation has announced $30.4 million in funding through the John R. Evans Leaders Fund. A total of 149 facilities at 32 universities across the country are receiving the funding.

The support will provide recipients working in a broad array of scientific disciplines with advanced research tools. $23.4 million is being awarded for tools and infrastructure and an additional $7 million will be used to support the operational costs of this infrastructure.

“Universities are at the heart of discovery and innovation in Canada,” says Paul Davidso, president, Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada. “These investments in state-of-the-art research tools and infrastructure will equip university researchers to develop new ideas and knowledge, find new treatments to make Canadians healthier, and generate discoveries that will make businesses more competitive.”
