Ottawa, ON – Dr Jillian Buriak has been appointed a member of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).
She is currently professor of chemistry and holds a Canada Research Chair position in inorganic and nanoscale materials with the University of Alberta. She is also the senior research officer and group leader with the National Institute for Nanotechnology. Previously, she was associate professor of chemistry at Purdue University.
She has earned several awards throughout her career, including the 2006 Faculty of Science Research Prize from the University of Alberta, the Martha Cook Piper Research Prize in 2005 and the American Chemical Society’s Pure Chemistry Award in 2003. In 2003, she was recognized as a member of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40, a program that honours Canadians who have reached a significant level of success before the age of 40.
