London, ON – A new research facility at the University of Western Ontario will help researchers determine how breast cancer cells spread through the body.
Drs Moshmi Bhattarcharya and John Di Guglielmo will lead a team of 12 in a new high-tech facility at Western’s Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. The facility, which received $253,217 in support today from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), will help researchers track the migration of breast cancer cells in order to develop improved therapies. Drs Bhattarcharya and Di Guglielmo also hope to develop a system for screening and testing genes associated with the spread of breast cancer.
