Omega Engineering to be acquired by Spectris


Surrey, UK – Instrumentation and controls company Spectris says it has signed an agreement to acquire the Omega Engineering business.

Omega is a privately held company that provides process measurement and control instrumentation to customers in industrial and academic markets, selling directly to end users in these sectors via catalogue, telephone and internet.

Headquartered in Stamford, CT, Omega has five manufacturing facilities and two distribution/sales facilities and employs around 700 people. Founded in 1962, it has grown steadily and now offers a wide range of instruments to measure temperature, pressure, flow, level, strain, humidity, pH and conductivity. 

The acquisition is expected to be completed in the 4th quarter of this year. 

Spectris also owns PANalytical, a maker of analytical instrumentation and software for X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, and materials characterization company Malvern Instruments.
