Toronto, ON – September 24, 2004 – The Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada says it has formed a partnership with the Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA).
This partnership will involve the CPIA broadening its previous 10-year partnership with the foundation from a single association event to an industry-wide initiative. The association will spearhead a program that will see member companies target mass participation in a variety of company sponsored fundraising events.
“Our goal is to help the foundation reach their objective, which is to fund research into the causes, cure and prevention of prostate cancer,” says Paul Clark, head of research for Nova Chemicals in Calgary, and chairman of the board of directors for CPIA.
CPIA was the foundation’s first industry partner, and has raised more than $500,000 over the past 10 years for prostate cancer research. Long-time president of the association, Ron Evason, founded the Canadian Prostate Cancer Research Fund in 1994 that merged with another prostate cancer organization in 1998 to form the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada.
