A new award recognizes the pivotal role journalists play in raising public awareness of health research in Canada. The Aventis Pasteur Medal for Excellence in Health Research Journalism was recently unveiled by Canadians for Health Research and Aventis Pasteur, and consists of a medal as well as a bursary worth $2,500. Journalist candidates are expected to have demonstrated excellence in the reporting of health research in print form in Canada during the calendar year 2002, and recommendations can be made by others, including members of the scientific community.
