Request for submissions: Ontario Association of Medical Laboratories research trust small grants program

Toronto, ON May 9, 2003 The Ontario Association of Medical Laboratories has announced the 2003 Small Grants Program to support non-proprietary research projects to improve the efficiency or effectiveness of the delivery of laboratory services. Previously funded projects have included research into new testing methodologies, information systems and improvements to operational systems.

Individual grants to a maximum of C$35,000 may be awarded to support laboratory services research, evaluation or demonstration projects in Ontario. This year the program has $70,000 to be awarded.

The program represents the commitment of Ontario’s community-based medical laboratories to ensure that Ontario’s laboratory services remain among the best in the world. Since the program began in 1997, the OAML has invested nearly $400,000 to support 17 separate research projects.

The program specifically focuses on non-proprietary projects to encourage the widest possible dissemination of research results. People working in community-based laboratories, hospitals and academic settings are encouraged to apply. Applications from graduate students working in laboratory-related fields will be considered.

Any public or private entity or any individual engaged in non-proprietary research in Ontario may apply for a grant.
