VWR signs sales/marketing agreement with Toxin Alert

Mississauga, ON March 31, 2003 VWR International and Toxin Alert have announced the signing of a sales and marketing agreement under which VWR’s Canadian customers would be offered custom mammalian cell culture services supplied by Toxin Alert.

VWR distributes life science laboratory products for the industrial, pharmaceutical, educational and governmental markets. The new alliance with Toxin Alert will enable VWR to offer Canadian customers a research- or production-scale service for mammalian cell culture in addition to its current offerings in standard cell culture media, serum, plates, dishes and consumables.

Toxin Alert is a biotechnology company that has developed a system of placing antibody-based tests on polymer packaging films to detect pathogens or other selected micro-organisms. The company aims to leverage its technology into a commercialized food safety product. Through existing partnerships with SYN X Pharma, the University of Guelph and the Ontario government, Toxin Alert is refining its technology for use as a diagnostic medium.
