Dedicated liquid handler is designed to facilitate the crystallization of membrane proteins, such as G-protein coupled receptors, by offering a fully automated solution to lipid cubic phase (LCP) screening. It overcomes common problems with accurately dispensing nanolitre quantities of these highly viscous lipids and the precise positioning of buffer drops on top required for efficient imaging of membrane crystals. The automation system enables miniaturized LCP screening to be easily performed with excellent accuracy, while increasing the throughput of crystallization protocols.
