High-sensitivity GCMS offers improved performance

The GCMS-QP2020 high-sensitivity gas chromatograph mass spectrometer features a proprietary multi-function ion source, patented high-speed scan control, and a new ultra-fast turbomolecular pump (TMP). These features, along with comprehensive databases and multiple sample introduction devices, enable excellent performance and custom configurations tailored to fit the needs of laboratories in such areas as environmental, food, and forensics.

The system’s mass spectrometer comes equipped with a new large-capacity turbomolecular pump (TMP) with heightened exhaust efficiency. This significantly improves performance of the instrument when operated using not only helium and hydrogen but also nitrogen. The pump’s differential exhaust system evacuates the ion source and quadrupole separately to achieve optimal instrument conditions while using any of the carrier gasses.

To achieve stable, high-sensitivity analysis, the system employs patented ion source technology. This technology creates a stable space for ion creation, prevents contamination due to source interactions, and offers the ability to switch ionization modes without venting the system. Users can now run a Quick-CI test without the added time of venting the system and changing out the ionization source. The Quick-CI option will allow users to introduce reagent gas while using the EI source to look for the molecular ion. In addition, Smart SIM (Selected Ion Monitoring) functionality automatically creates a program that enables a staggered SIM of multiple components, resulting in higher SIM sensitivity. Shimadzu
