Optics are continuously being improved to achieve better detection limits in numerous types of instruments. That’s the case for the second generation of Berthold Technologies’ multimode microplate reader, the Mithras2 LB943. It is equipped with two double monochromators and provides filter-less measurements of absorbance and fluorescence. For utmost sensitivity in luminescence, a third specially selected and extremely noise-reduced detector is engaged in the HiSens position with is used for Alpha and BRET readings. Optical filters can be used for luminescence measurements and each is coded with an RFID tag. A new feature is a reagent compartment at the front Suitable for the measurement of enzyme activities.
