Process generates low-concentration phosgene gas mixtures

Phosgene is notorious for disappearing in storage because the compound is readily decomposed by water adsorbed on cylinder walls and also attaches to dry cylinders. However, traceable gas mixtures can be created by using Kin-Tek’s Trace Source Permeation Tubes and its Flexstream Gas Standards Generators. The tubes emit a constant flow of phosgene vapour that is used to blend low concentration mixtures, while the generators provide the controls required to blend the traceable gas mixtures using the tubes. Mixtures are adjustable in concentration from sub-ppb to several hundred ppm. Emission flow measurements are traceable to NIST through fundamental standards. Kin-Tek Laboratories Inc.
