Protein precipitation sample preparation has traditionally been a troublesome task. Porvair Sciences’ Combipack contains contains five colour-coded P3 precipitation plates and five 1 ml deep-well collection plates to accelerate the process. The protein precipitation plates use the CRASH method, in which the protein is denatured with acetonitrile and the flocculant is filtered out, allowing 96 samples to be handled at one time. They are based on the MicroLute format, but without the chromatographic solvent. Protein crashes out of solution and precipitates directly in each well when acetonitrile is added, thus solving all common problems associated with the CRASH technique of protein clean-up.
