The sensor in the DSC 3 differential scanning calorimeter uses 56 thermocouples and provides high sensitivity and temperature resolution. Made with a ceramic surface, the sensor is robust and chemically resistant for daily use. The 6th generation, bottom-bonded, surface-stabilized sensor has a low signal time constant of 1.8 seconds that determines how well close-lying or overlapping thermal effects are separated from each other.
A robust, endurance-tested sample robot is key to fast and efficient routine measurements around the clock. The instrument’s sample robot can process up to 34 samples – even if every sample requires a different method and a specific crucible. The sample robot can even pierce the lid of hermetically sealed aluminum crucibles immediately before the measurement. This feature prevents the sample from gaining or losing moisture between its weigh-in and measurement. All required steps can be performed via a touch-screen terminal without the use of a PC, an advantageous feature in quality control environments where the measurement devices are operated by technicians who are not involved with method development and result evaluation.
